Few people are as important to our lives as our mothers. And often we don’t realise just how important they are until and unless we have children ourselves. So even in these times of pandemic and uncertainty, we at the Varsity Hotel believe that motherhood should be celebrated – on Mother’s Day, Sunday March 22nd.
Time of Celebration
Being a mum is not easy. Sure, we may think that our mum is great, and makes it look easy. But we always have to remember that by the time we were able to form an opinion on the matter she already had several years of experience in the role. A role of absolute responsibility 24/7 all year, every year.
And it’s not the kind of job that you can master over time and then expect to excel at. Instead it changes over time. After all, the needs of a toddler are very different to the needs of a teenager. So, taking the time to celebrate all that our mothers do for us is only right and proper. And that day is Mother’s Day, Sunday March 22nd.
This Mother’s Day we have prepared a couple of lovely 3-course set menus for our two restaurants: you can find the Six menu here; and the River Bar menu here. Alternatively, it is a glorious opportunity to share one of our famous Afternoon Teas.
Time of Uncertainty
Now, let’s talk about the elephant in the room.
The Coronavirus outbreak is now officially a pandemic. None of us know for sure how this situation will develop. Perhaps the UK will be spared the worst of it, and life will return to normal soon. Or perhaps we’re in for several weeks of restricted travel and closed businesses. Not for us to say.
But we appreciate that events such as Mother’s Day can cause…issues. Do you choose to stay at home and not celebrate with your mother? Or go out anyway regardless of the circumstances? Either choice can cause problems.
So, we have a win-win solution for you: Gift Vouchers. We offer Gift Vouchers for all our services, from a delightful Afternoon Tea to a truly luxurious Cambridge spa break. And from a sumptuous Cambridge massage to a hearty steak dinner. And they can be redeemed at a time of her choosing.
But at times like this, a Gift Voucher for mum is more than just postponing her celebration. It’s a promise that this time of uncertainty will pass and that things will get back to normal. It’s a gift we all appreciate in times like these.
