Our Dog Friendly Package

Can I Bring My Dog?

Yes! Dogs are welcome to stay over with us provided:

  1. They are well-behaved.
  2. They are housetrained and have up-to-date flea, worming and vaccinations.
  3. They are not left unattended in rooms for prolonged periods of time.
  4. Dogs can only be allowed in Fellow’s King and Senior Fellow’s Superking Room types.
  5. Dog Friendly Rooms are on the First and Second Floor.
  6. Please contact us if your dog is a giant breed, or if you have more than one dog. Some rooms would be unsuitable and we would need to be aware in order to advise on availabilty and allocate accordingly.

 

Is there an additional charge?

Our Dog Friendly Package is priced at £20 per dog, per stay and includes:

  1. Doggy Bed
  2. Water and Food Bowls
  3. Doggy Welcome Box
  4. Free cuddles (for the dog) at reception.

What happens if there is an 'accident'?

Accidents do happen and we simply ask that you report the incident to reception. In some cases, simply letting us know will be sufficient. If there is significant damage, or soiling, we reserve the right to charge additional cleaning, repair, replacement or admin fees dependent upon the circumstances.

Where can I take my dog for a walk nearby?

The Varsity Hotel & Spa is just a stone’s throw from Jesus Green, which is a beautiful space and a favourite of local dog owners. If you are looking for a nice walk with your four-legged friend, just turn left out of the hotel doors and walk straight, you will see the green immediately.

Where are the nearest dog friendly places to eat and drink?

  1. The River Bar Steakhouse & Grill (1min) – Just next door, serving great steaks and seafood, wines and cocktails.
  2. The Maypole (2mins) – A local family owned business with a good selection of Ales and homemade food. The garden is dog friendly, covered and heated.
  3. The Fort St-George (10mins) – A lovely walk along the riverside across Jesus Green to Midsommer Common. This Green King Pub offers dog friendly dinning, indoor and out, with views of the park and river.
  4. The Punter (5mins) – Just over the river with a lovely courtyard, this locally owned with a good selection of food and drink.
  5. Rupert Brooke (45mins) In the neighbouring village of Grantchester, stylish and chic, they love dogs so much they even have their own dogs menu! Worth the walk.

Where can I buy dog treats or food?

  1. Sainsbury’s (5mins) – Just along the street you will find the closest supermarket with a selection of treats and dog food.
  2. Pets at Home (20mins) – pet super store on the Beehive Retail Park. There are lots of other stores around to have a look around while you are there.
