The Christmas Season is always a busy time in the hospitality industry. From company Christmas parties and other corporate events through to New Year’s Eve celebrations, it doesn’t let up all month. Here’s a brief guide to what’s happening at the Varsity Hotel and our various departments this Christmas.
The Build Up
The three and a half weeks of December before Christmas are prime time for Christmas parties. Sometimes it feels like every group, organisation and company in your life has their biggest party of the year sometime during this month.
And if it’s your job to organise the party we’ve done our best to make life easy for you. Both our Six Panoramic Restaurant and our River Bar Steakhouse and its associated function room are available for full or partial hire. Each has its own Christmas party menu to make your experience as smooth as possible.
However, due to the expected cold and generally inclement weather over the season, our Roof Terrace is currently unavailable. It will reopen in the Spring.
The Grand Finale
These parties are mostly over by the time Christmas itself arrives. As Christmas Day is typically considered a time for family, most restaurants are either closed outright or have reduced opening hours over this period. This includes our River Bar Steakhouse.
But our Six Panoramic Restaurant is our Hotel restaurant. And since the Varsity Hotel itself remains open for business over Christmas, for Six the show must go on! So we’ve put together a special Christmas Day lunch menu. A three course menu filled with traditional Christmas dishes plus a palate cleansing sorbet and a glass of Champagne on arrival. Perfect for a long, relaxing family Christmas meal without the hassle of actually having to cook it or clean up afterwards.
Please note that a booking and deposit is required to dine at Six on Christmas Day.
Then to end the season and the year with a bang, we’ve got a special night of live music planned in Six on New Year’s Eve. From 8pm on to midnight we will be joined by Social Season Duo. This acoustic duo will serenade us with their heartfelt covers of pop anthems, folk tunes and jazz standards. They will be accompanied by another (different) exquisite three course plus set menu with bubbly on arrival.
